Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to point out its excellent inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. Inspection grades weigh a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid places with a bunch of severe deficiencies flagged. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Not having any deficiencies proved to be this facility's best achievement.
Nurse Quality
Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. Our nursing grade is primarily based on the nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing scores. This nursing home performed well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility's next best category is short-term care. As it turns out, with a D in this category, it still fared somewhat poorly. In determining our short-term care grades, we assess the nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. This grade is considered to be a solid measure of the nursing home's rehabilitation services. Considering its score in this area, we weren't surprised to discover that this facility was well below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the figures we looked at. Honestly, this was about what we expected to find. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who eventually returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.8 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we scored was long-term care, which turned out to be a weak spot for this nursing home. We gave this nursing home a grade of D in our long-term care category. When facilities receive this type of score in this category it is typically a bad sign for resident care and it may indicate that the nursing home is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. Once we concluded our assessment of the quantity of care provided by nurses, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. We were a bit concerned this nursing home vaccinated just 83.22981 percent of its residents against pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.
