Short-term Care Quality
This facility received a strong overall score as described above, but we want to emphasize its excellent short-term care grade. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this category. Short-term care grades are based on the facility's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a broad spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, it does not look like this nursing home submitted information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. This nursing home fared much better in the final datapoint we looked at in this area, which was the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that it fared as well as just about any facility in Ohio in this metric with 79.7 percent of its residents returning home.
Facility Inspections
In addition, this nursing home also excelled in inspections, where it received a grade of A. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this area typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.
Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category grade came in the area of nursing. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. This wasn't quite on par with some of its other category grades mentioned above. Our nursing grade focuses on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of licensure of those nurses as well as the amount of time spent with residents. This nursing home averages just 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, we look at quality-based statistics, such as the percent of residents who sustained pressure ulcers and major falls. Sometimes these datapoints are indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to our next area, this nursing home was awarded a respectable long-term care score. Even though this is not nearly as good as some of its other grades, this is really nothing to be ashamed of. In a long-term care environment, the primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination records. We were optimistic to discover that this nursing home vaccinates 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.18 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than the average nursing home.
