Facility Inspections
On top of receiving a strong overall score, this nursing home also received an A+ inspection grade. This is based on its recent government inspections. An A+ in this area is one of the best complements we can pay to a facility. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that CMS did not consider any of these deficiencies to be an immediate threat to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily something to panic about.
Short-term Care Quality
Among its many elite grades, this facility was awarded a strong short-term care score. In fact, we awarded it a score of A in this area. Short-term care grades are crucial for residents looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a vast range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. This facility excelled in the two key staffing areas we looked at. In fact, it offered more care from registered nurses and physical therapists than the average facility. This is typically an encouraging sign. The last datapoint we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that it fared as well as just about any nursing home in Ohio in this area with 63.5 percent of its patients returning home. With most nursing homes, fewer than half of their short-stay residents are able to return home.
Nurse Quality
Another strong feature for this facility is that it received an impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B. Our nursing grade is based on several factors, most of which are tied to quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 3.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we analyzed is this facility's weakest area. Nevertheless, even in its worst category we still gave it a respectable grade of B- for our long-term care category. Long-term care grades are used to grade a nursing home's performance as a traditional nursing home, as opposed to focusing more on the skilled nursing services offered by a rehabilitation facility. One of the statistics we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccinations. Fortunately, this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. This facility was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
