Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To pair with its strong overall score, we awarded this place an A for the area of inspections. Arguably the most critical factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Places with better scores in this area typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In addition, this nursing home also was awarded favorable long-term care grades in our assessment. In fact, we gave it one of our stronger grades in that area, with a score of B+. Facilities that receive this type of grade in this category tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure patients are kept in good health. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 92.045456 percent of its residents. This is slightly below what we were hoping for but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B+ for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. The nursing grade features a variety of subcategories. The most important one is the amount of time nurses spend with patients. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

The final category we rated was short-term care. In that area, we gave this facility an impressive grade of B. Our short-term care grades are probably most meaningful for people in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally requires more skilled nursing services. This means not only nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 4.7 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.
