Facility Inspections
Although we didn't rate this facility favorably overall, we actually gave it an excellent score in the category of inspections, where it received an A-. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection grades. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite minor. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
One of this nursing home's more respectable category grades was in the category of long-term care. This ended up being its second most favorable category. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of B-. Our long-term care scores are based in part on the nursing home's amount of nursing care. This includes a vast range of personal care services, ranging from assistance with activities of daily living to routine healthcare services. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 94.60154 percent of its residents. This place was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
In addition, we gave this facility an F in the area of nursing care. Nursing scores are tied to quality and quantity of nursing care. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This facility performed well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we graded was short-term care, where this nursing home was given an abysmal grade in this category as well. It received an abysmal F in this area, which is definitely a major concern. Short-term care grades are often used to judge a facility's rehabilitation services. In order to have good rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to offer higher levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who ultimately returned home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
