Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this nursing home's overall grade, it received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest scores in that category with an A-. Inspection scores weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid facilities with too many deficiencies flagged. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Despite this deficiency, this nursing home still received a relatively favorable inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's long-term care rating appears to be one of its higher grades. The nursing home received a C in this category. In the category of long-term care, we focus on the quantity of care provided by a facility, rather than more sophisticated services. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 95.419846 percent of its patients, which is higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Finally, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.72 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality
We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. Our nursing rating is largely tied to a facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides an impressive 4.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed admirably in this subcategory.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we analyzed is short-term care, which proved to be a low point for this nursing home. We awarded this facility a grade of D in our short-term care category. In our short-term care category, we attempt to forge a fair measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at the facility's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. It looks like this place was below average in several staffing areas we focus on. It offered fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most nursing homes. The final metric we looked at in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 42.8 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar metrics doomed this nursing home's short-term care grade.
