Facility Inspections
Although we gave this nursing home a poor overall grade, we gave it a B for our inspections category. This is due to the nursing home receiving a quality inspection report this year. Inspection scores are based on several pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these reports. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities that have severe deficiencies associated with risks to resident well being. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even with this deficiency, this was still a relatively favorable inspection report.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing score. In that area, we awarded this facility an D. In calculating our nursing scores, we analyze both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the skill levels of those nurses. This facility offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing scores. This place performed well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

Long-term Care Quality
In our next category, we gave this nursing home an F in the category of long-term care. For residents in need of a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are very important. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 97.31801 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is better than the average nursing home. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we analyzed is short-term care. Sadly, it received an F for this category, which is a rock bottom grade. In our short-term care score, we try to craft a valuable gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess the facility's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This wasn't a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 4.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, around half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
