Short-term Care Quality
While this nursing home's overall grade was abysmal, it actually didn't perform terribly in the area of short-term care. We awarded it a B- for that category, which is a decent score. Unfortunately, this was not enough to spare its profile. Our short-term care ratings are based on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This means a vast range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. In this facility's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than a typical facility. The hope is that this does not adversely impact the quality of care. The final measure we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from the facility. We found that just 5.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
Nurse Quality
We gave this facility a grade of just D for our nursing rating and that actually turned out to be its second highest score. Our nursing score is mostly associated with the facility's nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing scores. This place fared well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Facility Inspections
Unfortunately, this facility received an F for its inspection rating. You should pay close attention to any deficiencies on a nursing home's inspection reports when it receives this poor of an inspection score. We would pay close attention to the severity of the deficiencies. This facility had 7 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only positive thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that suggest that they caused a threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we graded is long-term care. This nursing home received a very poor grade of F in that category. For prospective residents seeking a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this nursing home also keeps its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
