Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall score was not a highlight, it actually excelled in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A- for that category, which is one of our best scores. These inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Despite this deficiency, this place still received a relatively positive report.
Short-term Care Quality
Another one of this nursing home's more impressive category scores was in the category of short-term care. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B. It actually fared better than most facilities in this area. In determining our short-term care ratings, we size up a facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. This area is considered to be a useful measure of a facility's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.6 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to point out that this nursing home received an F for its nursing grade. There are many factors included in this category. Many of the criteria are tied to staffing levels. This place offered only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing scores. This facility fared well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the fourth category, this nursing home did not perform very well in this area either. Due to a poor grade of F in long-term care, this is really as as uninspiring as it gets. Nursing homes that don't fare well in this category typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine medical care we assessed. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We were a bit concerned this facility gave the vaccine to only 58.536583 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.
