Facility Inspections
In addition to receiving an elite overall rating, this facility also earned an A+ inspection score. This is based on its recent inspection reports. An A+ in this category is one of the best complements we can pay to a nursing home. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively minor. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This tells you the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also was given a strong long-term care score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B+ in this category. Facilities that do well in this category typically provide residents with closer supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. After considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
The next category we looked at is short-term care. This nursing home was given an impressive short-term care grade, with a grade of B in the area. In our short-term care category, we endeavor to craft a sound measure for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. It doesn't look like this facility submitted information on registered nurse or physical therapist staffing. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.4 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
Nurse Quality
The next area we rated was nursing. This facility was awarded a very good nursing score in our assessment, with a grade of C. Even though this isn't quite as good as several of its other category grades, this is still a decent rating for that area. Our nursing rating is based on a handful of subcategories, but the paramount consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, our nursing grades also factor in some quality-focused measures. We look at the percent of residents who sustained pressure ulcers and major falls. Sometimes these statistics are decent indicators of the quality of nursing care, since superior care tends to reduce these issues.
