Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition to faring well in its overall grade, this nursing home earned a nearly flawless inspection report. Consequently, it received one of our highest grades in that area with an A. Our inspection scores weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with better grades in this area generally have few of these severe deficiencies. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we have deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category. Nursing scores are primarily based on a nursing home's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its fine profile, this nursing home also was given an excellent long-term care grade, with a grade of A-. For patients in need of a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. One of the statistics we considered after nursing hours is vaccines. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 81.818184 percent of its residents. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, we were pleased to find nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The last category we scored turned out to be this nursing home's weakest area. However, even its worst category would likely be a highlight for many facilities. We gave it a favorable grade of B in short-term care. Our short-term care grade is often employed to grade a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To offer quality rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to feature higher levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
