Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To pair with its relatively modest overall score, we gave this facility an A for its inspection grade. This score is far more impressive than the facility's overall score. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Another strength of this facility is its favorable grade in long-term care. We gave them one of our more favorable scores in that area, with a score of A-. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is far higher than the average nursing home. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

We awarded this facility a grade of just D for our short-term care grade. This is not one of our better scores. Our short-term care scores are based in part on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a broad scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. The last statistic we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents that were able to return home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 5.1 percent of its residents returning home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

The last area we scored is nursing, which turned out to be this nursing home's worst area. We gave this nursing home a grade of D in that category. Sadly, this grade pulled down the nursing home's overall profile to a certain degree. Our nursing rating looks at the facility's nurse staffing levels. We look at both the levels of licensure of the nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with residents. This place offered just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is well below average. Finally, we also looked at some quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. This place was above average in two of the metrics we focus on, with solid marks for avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
