In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. Our inspection scores are based on many pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this area tend to have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This facility was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to create an imminent threat to resident health or safety. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in the industry.

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received a strong score of A- in our short-term care area. Our short-term care ratings are probably most meaningful for residents requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation typically requires additional highly-skilled nursing. This includes not merely nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. One of this nursing home's strengths is physical therapy hours. We found that it offers at least 50% more hours with physical therapists to its residents than most other facilities. The last statistic we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients who returned home from the facility. We found that it fared as well as just about any nursing home in Tennessee in this area with 65.1 percent of its patients returning home. With most nursing homes, fewer than half of their short-stay residents are able to return home.

Turning to an additional strength for this nursing home, we gave them one of our stronger grades in our long-term care category as well, with a B. Facilities that receive this kind of grade in long-term care typically provide consistent around the clock care to make sure patients are kept in good health. After assessing the significant amount of nursing care provided by this facility, we turned to the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 99.54338 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is far higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.25 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes.

The final area we scored ended up being this facility's worst area. However, even in its worst category we still awarded it a decent grade of B- in nursing. Our nursing rating analyzes the facility's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of licensure of those nurses and the number of hours spent with residents. This facility provided 4.2 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is an impressive figure. Finally, we also assessed a few nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these. With less than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place Tennessee in this category. This is generally a fairly accurate measure of quality nursing care.
