Facility Inspections
In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. Inspection ratings account for several factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher grades in this area usually have very few severe deficiencies. Unfortunately, we weren't able to locate deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Adding to its elite accomplishments in other areas, we gave this nursing home a grade of A- for our long-term care rating. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care typically provide patients with more supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 96.21212 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients out of the hospital. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility also was given a favorable short-term care score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B+ in this category. In the area of short-term care, we seek to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We analyze a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. We were not able to track down registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return home from this nursing home. Nurse Quality
The next category we looked at was nursing. We gave this facility one of our more favorable scores in this category, with a B. While this isn't as dominant as a few of its other grades, it is nevertheless an excellent grade. When determining a nursing home's nursing score, we assess the quantity of hours nurses are with patients and the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by having a protocol of moving a resident more frequently.
