Facility Inspections
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Our inspection ratings are based on many items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this area have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was superb in the category of long-term care, where we awarded it a grade of A. Only a select group of facilities fared better in this category. For prospective residents seeking a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are very important. One of the datapoints we considered after nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 84.30962 percent of its patients. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, at least this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality
Turning our next area, we gave this facility a score of A for its short-term care grade. This is a superb score. Our short-term care grade is typically employed to score a nursing home's rehabilitation services In order to offer high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to offer higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final item we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients that who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
Nurse Quality
The final category we analyzed was nursing, where this nursing home was given a grade of A. This completed a first-rate report card. Few facilities earned an A- or better in every single category. Our nursing rating analyzes many data points, most of which are associated with nursing hours. This facility provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these statistics as predictive indicators of the quality of nursing care provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
