In addition to a phenomenal overall grade, this facility also received A+ nursing grade. There are quite a few datapoints within this grade. Most of these subcategories are tied to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 3.8 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

This facility has also received near flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection scores. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively minor. This facility was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This indicates that the inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to be an immediate risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Turning our next area, we gave this nursing home a grade of A for its long-term care grade. This is a first-rate score. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. After we finished assessing the quantity of nursing care, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia tragically can be a life threatening condition for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a facility does not leave its residents vulnerable. This place was also able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had just 1.37 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days.

Historical

In the final category we assessed, this facility was awarded a very favorable grade of A- in our short-term care category. With this score, the facility wrapped up a straight A report card. Short-term care grades are meaningful for people seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires more highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a vast spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. When we assessed this facility's nursing hours, we found it offered more care from registered nurses than most nursing homes. The last measure we assessed in this area is the number of residents that were able to return home from the nursing home. It performed better than most nursing homes in this area with 53.6 percent of its patients returning home.
