Facility Inspections
On top of being a strong nursing home overall, it also earned A+ inspections recently. Its inspections were nearly flawless. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection grades. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being relatively insignificant. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, this turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A. When determining a nursing home's nursing score, we weigh the amount of time nurses commit to patients as well as the levels of training of the nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home South Carolina in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as employing a policy of turning patients at least once a day.

Short-term Care Quality
Moving on our next category, we gave this facility a score of A for its short-term care grade. This is a first-rate score. In calculating our short-term care scores, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The goal is to devise a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our next area, this nursing home was given an extremely favorable long-term care grade. We gave it a grade of B+ in this category, wrapping up one of our better profiles. If you are seeking services other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care grades. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 60.09975 percent of its residents. This is somewhat below what we expected but still a decent percentage. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
