To go along with its strong overall score, we awarded this nursing home an A for short-term care. Our short-term care scores are considered to be more important for those in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually mandates higher levels of skilled nursing services. This includes not merely nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents that who were able to eventually return home from this facility. We found that 6.8 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

This facility also excelled in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. Our inspection ratings are tied to many items located in the a nursing home's inspections. Nursing homes that excel in this area have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Another one of this facility's impressive category grades came in the area of nursing care. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B. Our nursing score analyzes the facility's nurse staffing levels. We factor in both the levels of training of those nurses and the quantity of hours spent with residents. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home Tennessee in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as employing a protocol of turning a resident more often.

The last category we graded is this nursing home's worst area. However, even in its weakest link we still gave it a respectable grade of C in long-term care. In a long-term care setting, the facility's primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. Once we concluded our assessment of the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to learn that this facility vaccinated 96.7033 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Finally, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
