Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall score, we awarded this facility a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this area typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Adding to its profile, this nursing home also earned a score of B+ for its long-term care rating. This is an above average grade in this category. Facilities that excel in long-term care typically provide patients with more supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. After assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 97.73585 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is much higher than the majority of nursing homes. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.17 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to an additional strength for this nursing home, we gave them one of our more favorable grades in our short-term care category as well, with a grade of B+. Our short-term care grades are based on a facility's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a wide scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, not to mention other types of therapy. We were pleased to find that this nursing home employs both registered nurses and physical therapists. The same can't be said for all nursing homes. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This place outperformed the majority of nursing homes in the nation in this area with 54 percent of its residents returning home.
Nurse Quality
The final category we looked at was nursing. This nursing home was given a C in the area. Our nursing score weighs quite a few subcategories, many of which are associated with quantities of nurse staffing. Based on the CMS data, this nursing home offers 3.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, this place was relatively weak in some of the areas we focus on, with subpar scores for minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
