Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of being a first rate facility overall, this place also excelled in inspections, where it earned an A. Few facilities performed better in this area. Inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

On the list of its many impressive scores, this nursing home received an excellent short-term care score. In fact, it received a grade of A in that area. In the area of short-term care, we attempt to evaluate measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last measure we assessed in this category is the number of residents who returned home from the facility. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to another strength for this facility, we gave them one of our stronger grades in our long-term care category as well, with a B+. Nursing homes that receive this kind of score in this category tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are well cared for. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 96.0912 percent of its residents, which is very impressive. Pneumonia tragically can be a life threatening health condition for nursing home patients so we like it when a facility does not roll the dice on this issue. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

The last category we assessed was nursing, where this nursing home received a B+. This topped off a very strong report card. Not many nursing homes earned a B+ or better in in each area we assessed. Nursing scores are based in large part on quantity of nursing care available. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We look at these statistics as predictive measures of the quality of nursing care provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
