This nursing home earned a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to point out its excellent government inspection reports in recent years. We gave them an impressive grade of A in this category. Perhaps the most critical factor we look at in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this category most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was awarded a positive long-term care grade. In fact, we awarded it a B+ in this area, which is one of our more favorable scores. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 99.64286 percent of its residents, which is very impressive. Pneumonia is often a life or death health condition for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a facility does not roll the dice on this issue. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
The third best category we gave this facility in any area came in the category of short-term care, where we gave it a grade of B-. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to qualify measures of a facility's rehabilitation services. We analyze a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Remarkably, this facility provides its residents with at least 50% more physical therapist hours per week than the average facility. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This place outperformed the majority of facilities in the nation with 55.7 percent of its residents returning home. This is a higher rate than most nursing homes.
This nursing home's weakest category was nursing, which is the final area we assessed. Sadly, it received an abysmal F in this category. Even with multiple decent scores in other categories, this score is still alarming so we would like to to point it out. We scrutinized the qualifications of nurses at the facility, as well as the number of hours the nurses spent with residents, in computing our score in this area. Quantity of nursing care does not appear to be the problem here. Based on the data, it looks like this nursing home provides an above average 3.9 hours per resident on a daily basis. This is more nursing care than most facilities provide. Despite performing well in terms of nursing hours, this nursing home didn't fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in calculating our nursing ratings. We looked at the percentage of residents sustaining major falls and pressure ulcers. This nursing home was above the national average in both of these statistics.
