Facility Inspections
On top of being a great facility overall, it also received A+ government inspections recently. Its inspections were virtually flawless. Our inspection grades are tied to datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this category typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This facility was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe. This indicates that the inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies an immediate threat to resident health or safety. Remember that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A-. Our nursing rating assesses the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We look at both the levels of licensure of those nurses and the quantity of hours spent with residents. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home is also above average in the category of long-term care, where it was given a grade of B+. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours was vaccines. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 86.976746 percent of its residents. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we assessed was short-term care, which is this nursing home's least impressive area. We awarded this nursing home a grade of D in that area. However, we would not judge this nursing home solely on one weak category, since it earned some excellent scores in other areas. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we look at a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. This grade is generally a reliable assessment of the nursing home's rehabilitation. Unfortunately, we discovered that this nursing home provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most other facilities. Finally, we assessed the number of patients that returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
