Although we graded this nursing home incredibly poorly overall, it earned a relatively impressive government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our better scores in that category with a B+. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. It is generally in your best interest to avoid places that have a long list of deficiencies. This facility was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to be an immediate risk to resident safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. Our nursing score is primarily based on a facility's nurse staffing. This place offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is an alarmingly low total. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing ratings. This place performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

This nursing home ended up receiving a a terrible grade in our long-term care category. It received a lowly F in this category. Nursing homes that do not fare well in this category typically are not as well-staffed and are lagging in a few of the areas of routine personal care we looked at. One of the factors we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccines. We were a bit worried that this facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to just 60.477455 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this place was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.

The last category we analyzed is short-term care. This facility was given an abysmal grade of F in this area. With our short-term care rating, we endeavor to craft a valuable barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess a facility's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Based on its score in this category, we weren't stunned to find that this nursing home is well below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients based on the figures we assessed. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This was not a strength for this facility. We found that just 2.6 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, around half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.
