Facility Inspections
Although we did not have many positive things to say about this facility's overall grade, it earned a respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in this area with a score of B-. Inspection ratings are tied to many datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these reports. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to the well being of residents. This nursing home was assessed 9 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies an immediate threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's next best area is short-term care. In that area, we gave this nursing home a C. Our short-term care grades are presumably most critical for residents needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation typically utilizes additional skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not merely nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The tricky part is determining what effect this had on quality of care. The last measure we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 4.8 percent of this facility's patients returned home. This figure was below the national average.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility's second least favorable category is long-term care, where it received a grade of just D in that area. This is a well below average grade. If you are seeking services other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care grades. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 99.74874 percent of its residents, which is more than the majority of nursing homes. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.06 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
Nurse Quality
Switching gears to our last area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of D in nursing. This is the facility's weakest category score. Our nursing score features many data points. The most heavily weighted variable is the quantity of hours nurses spent with residents. This place offered only 0.5 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. This place also had abysmal scores in some of the quality-based measures to go along with its low nursing hour totals. We looked at the percentage of patients sustaining pressure ulcers and we were disappointed. This place was at roughly 1.5 times the national average in this measure.
