Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this facility's overall grade, it received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our highest scores in that category with an A-. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility received its second most favorable category score in the area of short-term care. We awarded this nursing home a grade of C in this area, which is a respectable grade. Short-term care scores are critical for prospective residents in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a broad scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, this place was below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we assessed. The question is whether this also affected quality of care. The last metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
We gave this facility just a D for our long-term care score. This is not a score to write home about. If you are seeking anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care grades. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 99.55357 percent of its patients, which is better than the majority of nursing homes. To our surprise, this facility was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
Nurse Quality
Switching gears to our fourth category, this nursing home did not perform well in this category either. Due to a very poor grade of F in nursing, this is just about as terrible as it gets. There are a host of data points within this category. Many of the criteria relate to levels of nurse staffing. This facility offered only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is not a very impressive figure. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing ratings.
