Nurse Quality

Grade: A

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home also received an excellent nursing grade, with a grade of A. In computing a facility's nursing rating, we look at the amount of time nurses commit to residents as well as the levels of training of the nurses. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We also would like to note the fact that this nursing home was awarded a dominant grade of A in our short-term care area. In the area of short-term care, we strive to evaluate indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

In addition, this facility also performed well in our inspection category, which is based on the nursing home's recent government inspection reports. We gave it an impressive grade of B+ for that category, which is one of our highest grades. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered severe. This indicates that the inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies an imminent risk to patient health or safety. We should note that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in the industry.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The last category we graded is long-term care, in which this nursing home received a B. Believe it or not, this was this facility's weakest category. A facility could be doing a lot worse when their poorest grade still is better than most facilities. When facilities receive this type of grade in long-term care it is usually a good sign for patient care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 97.732994 percent of its patients, which is far higher than the majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
