Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition to earning a great overall score, this nursing home also received an A+ in short-term care. In the category of short-term care, we try to assess measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we looked at in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 6.3 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Turning to our inspection category, this facility excelled in that area, which is based on the nursing home's inspection reports. We awarded it an A for that category. Inspection scores weigh a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area tend to have few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A-. Nursing grades are primarily associated with a facility's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a policy of turning a resident more often.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In the last category we rated, this nursing home was given a very strong grade of A- in our long-term care category. With this score, the nursing home completed a straight A report card. Facilities that receive this type of grade in this category tend to provide consistent around the clock care to ensure patients are well cared for. One of the data points we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 87.323944 percent of its residents. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
