Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to faring well overall, this facility received a nearly flawless inspection report. Therefore, it earned one of our best scores in that area with an A+. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility truly excelled in the area of long-term care, where we gave it a grade of A-. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care tend to provide residents with better supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 98.686134 percent of its residents. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents out of the hospital. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Turning to another strength for this facility, we awarded them one of our higher scores in our short-term care category as well, with a grade of B. In the category of short-term care, we seek to qualify measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final metric we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that 5.3 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final category we looked at turned out to be this nursing home's worst category. However, even in its worst category we still gave it an acceptable grade of B- in our nursing category. Nursing ratings are based in large part on levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, our nursing scores also factor in quality-based metrics, such as preventing major falls. While this facility didn't have as many nursing hours per resident as many of the other nursing homes we assessed, it was still better than average in the area of preventing falls.
