Facility Inspections

Grade: B

Although this nursing home's overall score was as bad as it gets, it performed well in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a B for that area, which is one of our better scores. Inspection scores are tied to several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities that have severe deficiencies associated with endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this nursing home only earned a grade of D for its short-term care grade, which is actually one of its more favorable category scores. In the area of short-term care, we strive to evaluate indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Given its score in this area, we were not surprised to find that this nursing home is well below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the figures we assessed. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

This facility ended up receiving a bottom of the barrel grade in our long-term care area. It was given a lowly F in this area. For prospective residents in need of a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are a key measure. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Thankfully, this facility gave the vaccine to 94.47005 percent of its residents, which is a very solid statistic. To our surprise, this nursing home also keeps its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

The last category we analyzed was nursing, where this nursing home was given an abysmal score in this area as well. It received an abysmal F for this category, which is definitely very concerning. The nursing rating features many factors. The most important variable is the number of hours nurses spent with residents. This facility averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is an alarmingly low total. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. This facility fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these metrics to be measures of the quality of nursing care.
