Facility Inspections
We want to point out that this facility really outperformed its overall grade in the category of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our best grades in this category with a grade of A+. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. A few relatively minor dings aren't necessarily something to panic about.
Long-term Care Quality
We also awarded this facility a favorable score in long-term care. This nursing home earned a grade of B+ in this area, which turns out to be one of our higher grades. For prospective patients seeking a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 61.93806 percent of its residents. This is slightly below what we expected. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
We also gave this facility a solid grade in the category of short-term care, with a C. Our short-term care grade is generally used to judge a nursing home's rehabilitation services In order to offer highly rated rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must offer better levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Unfortunately, we weren't able to track down registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this place. The last measure we looked at in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 5.5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.
Nurse Quality
This facility's worst category was nursing, which is the final area we looked at. Sadly, it received a lowly F in this category. Even with a few decent grades in other categories, this grade is still disappointing so we would like to to draw your attention to it. Our nursing rating includes several data points, but the main consideration is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provided only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is not a very impressive figure. In addition to receiving below average marks for total nursing hours, this nursing home was a bit less impressive in some of the quality-based measures we looked at in computing our nursing grades. We looked at the percentage of residents suffering pressure ulcers and found this facility was at approximately 1.5 times the national average in this metric.
