While we did not have many positive things to say about this place's overall grade, it did receive a somewhat respectable government inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent score in this category with a B-. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. While this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.

This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of B- for that category, which is not a bad score. When computing our nursing scores, we assess both nursing hours and the training levels of those nurses. This nursing home provides only 0 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a somewhat discouraging figure as it is well below the national average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. In fact, it scored well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be good measures of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is every bit as important as the number of hours of care offered.

The third area we graded is short-term care. In that category, we gave this nursing home a decent grade of B-. Our short-term care ratings are arguably more critical for residents in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means not just nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. We were surprised to find that this facility was below average in the two key staffing areas we looked at. In fact, it provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Finally, we assessed the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this facility. We found that 5.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit below average.

Switching gears to our last area, we awarded this nursing home a D in our long-term care category. This was the facility's worst category score. If you are looking for anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care grades. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home gave the vaccine to 96.37681 percent of its residents, which is a very solid statistic. To our surprise, this nursing home was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
