Nurse Quality

Grade: A

One of the many reasons this place received a great overall grade is that it earned a very strong nursing grade. Nursing turned out to be its best category. In this category, we awarded this facility an A. In computing a facility's nursing grade, we assess the number of hours nurses spend with residents as well as the skill levels of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Adding to this facility's impressive resume, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this area most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. While this place had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This tells you that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Building on its first-rate resume, this facility also was given a dominant long-term care score, with a grade of A-. When nursing homes receive this type of score in this category it is typically a good sign for resident care and indicates that the facility is well-staffed with nurses aids. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 98.809525 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is far higher than the majority of nursing homes. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

The final area we assessed was short-term care, where this nursing home received a grade of A-. This rounded out a very impressive report card. Very few nursing homes received an A- or higher in in each area we assessed. Short-term care grades are often employed to judge a facility's rehabilitation services. To offer highly graded rehabilitation services, facilities generally must provide better levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
