Short-term Care Quality
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A in our short-term care category. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 6.1 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.
Facility Inspections
This facility has received near flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this category. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Nurse Quality
Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. Nursing scores are mostly tied to a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as having a system of turning a resident more often.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we looked at is long-term care, in which this nursing home was given a B-. This actually was this facility's least impressive category. This is still not the end of the world. In the area of long-term care, we focus on the amount of services provided by a nursing home, as opposed to more sophisticated services. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is a very solid percentage. This facility was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
