Facility Inspections
To go along with its decent overall grade, we gave this nursing home a grade of A for its inspection grade. This score is far better than its overall rating. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection ratings. One key factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some can be quite minor. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
We also gave this facility an impressive score in short-term care. This facility earned a B in this category, which happens to be one of our better grades. In computing our short-term care grades, we scrutinize a facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. This area is frequently a solid measure of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. This facility was satisfactory in the two key staffing areas we looked at. It offered a reasonable level of care from both physical therapists and registered nurses. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents that who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. This place fared as well as just about any facility in this area with 56.4 percent of its residents returning home. Most facilities are below 50 percent in this metric.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a strong grade in our nursing category. We awarded this nursing home an above average grade of B in this area. Nursing ratings are heavily correlated with quality and quantity of nursing care. This facility provided 3.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we looked at is long-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it an F in this category, which is a poor score. This is certainly a major concern. For prospective residents in need of a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility gave the vaccine to 99.77427 percent of its residents, which is an above average figure. To our surprise, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.62 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
