Short-term Care Quality
This facility earned a favorable short-term care rating this year. We awarded them a strong grade in that category, with a B+. This is a notably better grade than the nursing home's overall grade and was a boost to its overall profile. In calculating our short-term care grades, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The purpose is to formulate a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final item we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 5 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

This nursing home also received a strong nursing grade. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B in that category, which is one of our better scores. Our nursing rating is mostly based on a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Facility Inspections
This facility's inspection rating was yet another category grade that was superior to the facility's overall grade. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a B. Inspection scores account for a host of factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher scores in this category generally have very few severe deficiencies. Unfortunately, it does not look like we have deficiency counts for this nursing home. We would like to have more data for this facility. Without having complete deficiency data, it was a challenge to fully evaluate it in this area.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we rated is long-term care. We awarded this facility a grade of C in that category. Our long-term care grades are more important for people in need of more conventional services related to activities of daily living. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 99.6063 percent of its residents, which is more than the vast majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
