While this nursing home's overall grade was decent, it really excelled in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A+ for that category, which is one of our highest scores. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

This facility's next best category grade came in the area of nursing. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of C. In computing our nursing grades, we analyze both staffing levels and the skill levels of the nurses. This place provides only 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a somewhat alarming figure as it is well below the national average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home surprisingly fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. It scored well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is as important as the number of hours of care provided.

Our short-term care grade is often employed to assess a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To offer highly graded rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to offer higher levels of highly skilled nursing.
