Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this facility highly overall, we want to point out its nearly flawless inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A- in this category. Our inspection ratings weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You should avoid facilities with a bunch of deficiencies flagged. Although this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
We also awarded this facility a middle of the road score in the category of short-term care, where we awarded it a B-. In computing our short-term care grades, we analyze a facility's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. This area is frequently a meaningful assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we assessed. The real question is whether this adversely affected quality of care. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients that were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 6.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually well below the national average.

Nurse Quality
We were surprised to find that this nursing home also excelled in the category of nursing. We awarded it an impressive grade of D for that category, which is one of our highest grades. There are numerous criteria within this area. Many of these factors are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This place provided a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is an alarmingly low total. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing scores. This nursing home performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these datapoints to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we rated was long-term care. This facility was given a bottom of the barrel grade of F in this area. For residents in need of a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are a key measure. Once we concluded our assessment of the volume of nursing care, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination records. We were pleased to learn that this nursing home vaccinated 99.4709 percent of its patients for pneumonia. To our surprise, this place also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
