Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this nursing home highly overall, we want to point out its nearly flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A- in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection ratings. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. In spite of this deficiency, this place still received a relatively positive inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
The next best category we awarded this nursing home in any category came in the area of long-term care, where we gave it a B-. Our long-term care grade assesses a facility's assistance with daily living rather than the highly skilled nursing or medical services that are critical to a rehabilitation facility. After considering the quantity of nursing care, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination record. We were pleased to find that this facility vaccinates 96.45495 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Finally, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality
In addition, we gave this facility an F in the area of nursing care. We scrutinized the skill-level of nurses working for the facility, in addition to the quantity of time those nurses were with residents, in computing our grade in this area. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing scores. This facility fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to the fourth category, this nursing home did not fare well here either. Due to an abysmal grade of F in short-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. In the category of short-term care, we seek to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We look at a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. As you might expect, we found that this facility offers far less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents that ultimately returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.6 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
