Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to draw your attention to its nearly flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this category. Arguably the most important factor we look at in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. It is generally in your best interest to avoid facilities that had too many deficiencies. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Sadly, this nursing home's second highest score is long-term care. However, with a D in this area, it still fared relatively badly. Nursing homes that do not fare well in long-term care typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine medical care we assessed. One of the factors we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours was vaccines. We were a bit concerned this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to a relatively low 83.819626 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.

Short-term Care Quality
Sadly, we gave this facility an F for its short-term care score. In the category of short-term care, we strive to qualify measures of a facility's rehabilitation services. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. With its score in this category, we weren't stunned to learn that this facility was well below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients based on the figures we looked at. Honestly, this was about what we expected here. The final statistic we assessed in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.2 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar statistics sunk this nursing home's short-term care score.
Nurse Quality
The last area we analyzed is nursing. We gave it an abysmal F for this area, which is an abysmal score. Our nursing rating assesses several components, but the primary one is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This particular facility offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This statistic is significantly below the national average. In addition to its subpar nursing hours, this place received suboptimal marks in several of the quality-based metrics we looked at in calculating our nursing scores. We found that a higher percentage of this facility's patients experienced falls leading to major injury.
