Nurse Quality
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ nursing grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. Nursing grades are largely associated with a facility's nurse staffing. This place provides an incredible 5.9 hours of nursing care per patient per day. Out of that total, many of the hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the most highly highly trained levels of nurses. In addition to offering high levels of nursing care, this place also excelled in the quality-based metrics we assessed. By way of illustration, it performed as well as any nursing home in the state when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these datapoints as reliable indicators of the caliber of nursing care being provided.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also received an A+ for its short-term care score. In the area of short-term care, we try to qualify indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. This place is the gold standard when it comes to skilled nursing staffing. It provided about 1.5 times as many registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than a typical facility. This is what we look for when grading a nursing home in this category. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return home from this facility. In addition to excelling in the area of physical therapy staffing, we found that it performed as well as just about any nursing home in the country with 63.8 percent of its patients returning home.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we analyzed is long-term care. This facility also was given an A+ long-term care grade, making it one of the few nursing homes to be given more than one A+ category grades. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. In addition to offering very impressive levels of nursing care and other staffing, this nursing home gave the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. This percentage is also significantly better than the vast majority of nursing homes. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 1.09 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than many nursing homes.

Adding to its impressive category grades, this facility also excelled in inspections, where it earned an A. This rounded out a straight A report card for this nursing home. Our inspection grades are tied to items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that score well in this area tend to have very few deficiencies on their reports.
