Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was awarded a fine long-term care grade. This actually turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, this facility received a grade of A. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. This facility's vaccination data were not as favorable as its nursing hours data. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to just 87.064674 percent of its residents. We'd like to see some improvement in this area next year. The last datapoint we looked at was the facility's hospitalization rate. We found that this place had 1.88 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is close to average in this area.

Short-term Care Quality
Turning to another strength for this facility, we awarded them one of our better scores in our short-term care category as well, with a grade of B. With our short-term care grade, we seek to create a sound gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze the facility's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. This place provides more services with physical therapists and registered nurses than most facilities we looked at. This is usually an excellent sign. The last metric we assessed in this area is the number of residents that were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that it fared better than most nursing homes in this area with 52.1 percent of its patients returning home. At most nursing homes, fewer than half of their short-term residents are able to return home.
Nurse Quality
The last area we looked at was nursing. We awarded this nursing home an acceptable score in that area, with a grade of B-. Although this is not as strong as a few of this facility's other scores, it is still not a poor grade. In determining a facility's nursing score, we look at the amount of time nurses spend with patients as well as the levels of training of the nurses. This place provides a very impressive 4.1 hours of nursing care per patient daily. Few nursing homes provide this quantity of nursing care to their residents. Out of this total, many of these hours were provided by registered nurses, which are one of the most highly skilled levels of nurses. Finally, we also baked a few quality-based metrics into our nursing grades. This place fared poorly in two of the areas we focus on, with below average scores for minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. These statistics are generally accurate measures of the quality of nursing care provided.
