Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
Although we did not rate this nursing home well overall, we want to acknowledge it received a decent grade of B- in the area of nursing. Nursing scores are tied to nurse staffing levels. This nursing home provides only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a somewhat uninspiring figure which is well below the national average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place surprisingly fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. It scored well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is just as important as the quantity of hours of care offered.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's short-term care grade turns out to be one of its respectable grades. The nursing home received a B- in this area. Our short-term care grade is generally employed to gauge a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. In order to offer high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to provide higher levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. In this place's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The final measure we looked at in this category is the number of residents that ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 5.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Facility Inspections
This nursing home earned mediocre government inspections in recent years. We gave them a C in this category. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This facility had 5 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but fortunately none were in any of the categories labeled G through L. This tells you inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to create an imminent danger to patient health or safety. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we analyzed is long-term care, which was a low point for this nursing home. We gave this facility a D for our long-term care category. For residents looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the facility's vaccination records. We were pleased to learn that this facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this facility was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
