While we did not have many favorable things to say about this facility's overall grade, it did receive a respectable nursing grade of B-. Nursing ratings are based largely on nurse staffing levels. This place provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a low total compared to most other nursing homes. Finally, although this facility got docked a bit for nursing hours per resident, it excelled in some of our quality metrics. With less than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed very well in this metric.

Our short-term care grade is typically employed to gauge a facility's rehabilitation services. In order to provide quality rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. It is important to determine whether this also correlates to a lower quality of care. The last metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 4.4 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.

We also awarded this facility a decent score in the area of long-term care, where we awarded it a B-. In determining our long-term care scores, we scrutinize the assistance with daily living received by the facility's residents. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is a very respectable percentage. Lastly, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Unfortunately, this facility did not receive a favorable inspection score. We gave it a grade of just just D in this category. Inspection ratings relate to a nursing home's inspection reports. We weight poor inspection grades heavily in our assessment. Since the inspections are completed by independent government inspectors, we consider this data to be very reliable. Our inspection ratings account for a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. Generally, you should be more cautious when considering a facility with severe deficiencies on a recent inspection report. This facility was hit with a category G through L deficiency, which are among the more serious deficiencies. This generally indicates that the deficiencies uncovered by CMS had potential to create actual harm to patients. Another area of concern is that CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.
