We want to point out that this nursing home really outperformed its overall grade in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless government inspection report this year. As a result, we gave it one of our best scores in that area with an A. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this category most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This nursing home was assessed 11 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing score. This proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this facility an B. Nursing scores are heavily correlated with nurse staffing levels. This nursing home provides 3.9 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is better than what is offered by most facilities. Finally, this place also performed well in several of the quality-based metrics we assessed. In terms of the percentage of its residents sustaining falls which lead to serious injury, this nursing home performed as well as just about any facility we assessed.

Unfortunately, this facility only earned a D for its short-term care score, which is well below average in this category. Short-term care grades are often employed to judge a facility's rehabilitation services In order to have highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to offer better levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other licensed professionals. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The last statistic we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 36.3 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor statistics sunk this facility's short-term care grade.

Historical

This facility's weakest area is long-term care, which is the final area we analyzed. We gave it an abysmal F for this category. Despite several solid scores in other categories, this score is still disappointing so we would like to to point it out. For prospective patients seeking a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 96.63462 percent of its residents, which is higher than the average nursing home. Surprisingly, this nursing home also keeps its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 1.13 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
