On top of being a first rate facility overall, this nursing home also excelled in long-term care, where it received a grade of A+. Few nursing homes fared better in this area. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents out of the hospital. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. This facility also earned an A+ inspection grade, making it one of the rare nursing homes to receive multiple A+'s in our category grades. This score is based on the facility's recent inspection reports. Our inspection ratings are based on several pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this area tend to have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility excelled in our nursing rating. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. Our nursing score consists of many datapoints, however, the most important one is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a protocol of moving patients more frequently.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In our last category, we gave this nursing home an A+ for its short-term care grade. This wrapped up a very favorable report card. Our short-term care ratings are considered to be more important for those needing rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally requires more skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not merely nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
