Facility Inspections
One of the many reasons this place turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ in our inspections category. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection grades. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being quite minor. This facility received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe. This means that CMS did not consider any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A- in our nursing category. Our nursing score is largely based on a nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Long-term Care Quality
Additionally, this facility also received favorable long-term care scores this year. Indeed, we gave it one of our more favorable grades in that area, with a score of B+. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. One of the statistics we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccines. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 99.06542 percent of its patients. This is a reliable method to minimize negative health outcomes for the aged 65 and up population. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we graded was short-term care. This facility was given a favorable nursing grade in our assessment, with a grade of B. Although this isn't nearly as impressive as some of its other category grades, this is nevertheless one of our more favorable grades in that category. With our short-term care rating, we seek to create a fair barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze the nursing home's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
