Registered Staff Hours
While this facility's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually really excelled in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A- for that category, which is one of our highest scores. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some are relatively insignificant. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the area of short-term care, this nursing home received a grade of just D in this category. Sadly, this wound up being one of its better grades. Short-term care ratings are based on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a broad spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Given its weak score in this area, we were not surprised to find that this nursing home offers far fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other nursing homes. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents that who were able to eventually return home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 5.5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality
Our third category we analyzed is long-term care, where this nursing home was given an F. Nursing homes that don't fare well in long-term care typically are not as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine medical care we assessed. Once we assessed the amount of nursing care, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination record. Candidly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 62.499996 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this place actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
Turning to the fourth category, this facility did not perform well in this category either. Due to a bottom of the barrel grade of F in nursing, this is really as as uninspiring as it gets. Our nursing grade is largely tied to the nursing home's nurse staffing. This facility averaged only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is well below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing ratings. This facility performed well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these metrics to be measures of the quality of nursing care.
