Nurse Quality
Part of the reason this nursing home performed well overall is it excelled in nursing, with a B+ in that category. It outperformed many nursing homes in this area. We weighed the qualifications of nurses working for the nursing home, in addition to the quantity of time those nurses spent with residents, in computing our score in this category. This nursing home provided 4.1 hours of nursing care per patient each day, which is among the highest figures in the country. A significant portion of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which are one of the more skilled levels of nurses. We are very impressed by these statistics. In addition to providing high levels of nursing care, this place also excelled in the quality measures we looked at. It performed as well as any facility in Utah in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Facility Inspections
This facility also excelled in the area of inspections. We awarded it an B+ for that category, which is one of our best grades. This is one of the few facilities with an overall score in this range which earned multiple category grades this high. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This place was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that CMS did not deem any of these deficiencies to create an immediate threat to resident health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality
The next area we looked at was short-term care. In that category, we gave this facility a grade of B-. Short-term care scores are based on a facility's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a wide range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. One reason for this facility's strong score in this category is that it provides more care with registered nurses to its residents than the average nursing home. The final metric we considered in this area is the percentage of residents that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we scored is long-term care. We awarded this facility a B- in that area. For residents looking for a permanent place to live rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are very important. After looking at the very respectable amount of nursing hours provided by this nursing home, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 98.68421 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which appears to be higher than many nursing homes. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
