Short-term Care Quality
One of the reasons this place received a great overall grade is that it received an A+ in short-term care. This is simply as good as it gets in this area. Our short-term care grade is generally employed to judge a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. In order to offer highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to feature higher levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. This nursing home excelled in two key staffing areas we assessed. It offered about 50% more care from physical therapists and registered nurses than a typical facility. This is generally an encouraging sign. The final item we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that it performed as well as just about any facility in Ohio in this area with 71.8 percent of its patients returning home.
Adding to an already impressive profile, this facility also received virtually flawless health inspections in recent years. As a result, we awarded it an A+ inspection grade. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection scores. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being relatively insignificant. We weren't able to find deficiency data for this facility. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
This nursing home also received an A+ for its nursing grade. When determining our nursing grades, we analyze both nursing hours and the skill levels of those nurses. This place provides an incredible 7.1 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Out of that total, many of the hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the most highly highly trained levels of nurses. In addition to offering impressive levels of care, this nursing home also excelled in the quality measures we assessed. It performed as well as any nursing home in the state when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Long-term Care Quality
In the final category, this nursing home was awarded another A+ for its long-term care grade, completing a truly spectacular profile of straight A+'s in all of our categories. In a long-term care setting, the facility's primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this nursing home submitted vaccination data. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
