Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall score was not a highlight, it did receive a very good grade in the category of inspections. We gave it a B+ for that category, which is one of our better grades. Inspection ratings are based on items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key thing to look for on these inspections. You should especially avoid facilities with severe deficiencies associated with endangerment of patients. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility's next most favorable area came in the area of short-term care. In that category, we gave this facility a C. In determining our short-term care ratings, we analyze a facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. This area is often a useful assessment of a facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. In this facility's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than a typical facility. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents that returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below average.

Nurse Quality
Among this nursing home's several poor grades was its F in the area of nursing care. There are a host of factors within this area. Most of these factors relate to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This place provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing scores. This place fared well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these datapoints to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we looked at is long-term care, where this facility was given a rock bottom score in this category also. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F for this category, which is obviously very concerning. When facilities receive this type of grade in this category it is often a bad sign for patient care and it may mean that the facility is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. As it turns out, this nursing home administered the vaccine to only 62.564106 percent of its patients, which is a bit of a concern. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.
