Nurse Quality
On top of being a first rate nursing home overall, this facility also excelled in the category of nursing, where it received an A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Our nursing score is mostly based on a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This particular facility provided 4.2 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This was one of the better totals we found. Furthermore, we found that a significant percentage of this care was provided by registered nurses, which are highly skilled nurses. These are both really impressive figures. In addition to offering high levels of care, this facility was also above average in several of the major quality-based metrics we looked at in this category. It performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
We also awarded this facility a grade of A+ for its short-term care grade. Our short-term care scores are vital for individuals requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes additional highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a vast scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. This nursing home is above average in terms of both its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who ultimately returned home from this facility. On top of excelling in the area of physical therapy staffing, we found that it performed as well as just about any nursing home in the nation with 65.4 percent of its residents returning home.
Facility Inspections
Adding to its strong resume, this facility earned a grade of B for its inspections rating. This is a well above average score in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection grades. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being quite insignificant. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we looked at is long-term care, where this nursing home received a C. This actually was this facility's least impressive category. This is nevertheless nothing to be ashamed of. Our long-term care ratings are more meaningful for individuals requiring more traditional assistance related to activities of daily living. On top of providing favorable levels of nursing care, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 99.29329 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients healthy. This combination proved to be successful as this nursing home keeps its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 1.07 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a much lower hospitalization rate than the majority of nursing homes.
